How does everyone wait while filling up the tank at the gas station?? I usually am cleaning my windows or checking engine stuff meanwhile.

it depends.

If it's nice I stand outside, if not I sit inside.

Oops misread the thread.

I usually just listen to music or watch the cars passing.

I wash the windows and lean on my car also, but never listen to the radio. Always though that listening to the radio might ignite something since you're fiiling up with gas. The tiniest spark can ignite the gas with the right outside conditions. Static and cellphones can also be a factor.

as long as you ground yourself, your good

one thing that myth busters didnt cover, is pressing buttons while in the environment of gas, every time an electrical conection is made, no mater how small, there is a spark

I just stand there and watch the dollar thing spin and spin.

I haven't put gas in my truck in 4 weeks and I still have 3/4 of a tank.

I'm a control freak. I stand outside the whole time with my finger hovering over the trigger. I'm against using electronics while fueling or the risk of static electricity, so I keep the radio off and never enter the vehicle. And the cell phone and PDA stay in the car.

I saw a video of a girl in a sweater with a jeep. She got out, put the nozzle in, got back in the car, got out, grabbed the nozzle and set a fire. She pulled it out (wisely) and left it on the pavement and ran inside to alert the clerk.

I stand outside with it.

There was this one time during the winter, I was filling up my mom's car, and it was freezing cold. I wasn't dressed for the chilly winds, so I wussed out and sat in the car.
