JUST got back from Englishtown raceway where the Drift Out Wednesdays are held by DG Trials (
http://www.dgtrials.com). What an amazing time. I was only spectating, but some of the DG regulars truly tore it up (everyone in Aces High drift team).
The highlight of the night however, was watching the Signal Drift twins in action. Fumiaki Komatsu (Drifter X), and Chunky Bai (Drifter XL) were simply amazing, I can't even begin to describe their antics...starting sideways over 100 feet from the turn and then watching them come within inches of the retaining wall was something else.
High speed drifts that spit up rocks and rubber into the crowd as they fly past you was simply incredible. The only bad thing that happened was both Komatsu and Bai were doing donuts and managed to hit each other, with Komatsu going into the wall. I'm unsure of exactly how this occurred, due to the fact I couldn't see a damn thing through all the smoke.
Komatsu's ride was KO'd for the night (busted front end, mangled radiator, and dented intercooler), but Bai was able to make one more solo run (minus headlight covers, bumper, and passanger fender). These two drivers were truly amazing, and the cars were absolutly beautiful (before they macked up). Three runs were made, on short one early on (maybe 7-10 mins), the second one, which was cut short by the accident (about 15 mins), and a final one (Bai solo, about 15 mins).
I had an amazing time, and this event made my week. EVERYONE in the northeast area should attend the fall nationals at Englishtown raceway Oct 4&5 to see Signal in full effect.
