That is incredible story! I still would have both of them. Glad to hear that no one else got hurt, especially little kids.

This is why I always go with my car if someone wants to test drive a car that I am selling!..if it's a bike, I want money in hand just incase you want to be Evel Kinevel and do something stupid

Thanks for sharing!

That's pretty stupid on both of their parts. The kids obviously were driving like idiots but who would actually let a 20 yr old test drive their RWD sports car alone?? I would only let them ride along with me unless they put down a hefty deposit.

Stupid that the driver pushed the limits on a car he doesn't own or know how to properly handle.Stupid that the passenger didn't wear his seatbelt.Stupid that the seller let two 20yr olds test drive her car unsupervised.

But it's good to see that no bystanders got hurt and that the driver/passenger will recover. hopefully lesson learned for them.

and from what i gather the seller's insurance is going to cover it? the driver should be the one to fork out the cash...

I was 20yrs old when the Honda dealership let me take out a S2000 by myself. My girlfriend(now wife) was there with me. I thought I would have to leave her and take the salesman but he told me to be careful and bring it back in one piece. Those little cars can fly, but I did not do anything stupid. I bet those kids were grinning from ear to ear when they got out the drive way.

When you took the car by yourself, you signed a paper and provided your id

The car was insured and you would have paid the deductible in case of an accident.. The dealership had nothing to lose, but to write off a car with your deductible instead of selling it.

test drive or not, if the guy went with them on the test drive, one of two things could have happened. The owner gets injured as well.... or they buy the car and that same accident happens 5 minutes later.

ID yes, signing a paper no. Yeah, I get you though. They had a idiot take out a Z06 at carmax and it started raining. Well, we all know where this story ends. The worse part is, he gave them some bad information and walked away. I was test driving some car and the salesman was pretty salty about the situation, he happen to be the one in the car with the moron.

When we were shopping around for my Altima, We went to the Nissan dealer. It was just me and the salesmen, and I drove like a grandma because I did NOT want to crash or get pulled over or anything. After, we went to a VW dealer (looking at GTI's) and my dad drove that one because I was still fairly new to stick. He whipped that thing around this corner and it felt so nice hahaha.

I still don't trust myself driving even semi recklessly while test driving

before i bought my ac, i test drove many, many cars. some salesmen looked at me and laughed when i wanted to test drive cars. i took out a z28 camaro without the sales men, i asked if he wanted to go with me and he told me no and to take my time...so i turned off the slip control and brought it back with bald tires haha. really though, every car i have ever test drove, i took it to the limit. i want to know what im getting into. i remember when i bought the ac, the sales men was kind of cool and he let me push the limits of the 3.5 and 2.5. there were a few times where he dug his nails into the dash, but i brought her back in one piece everytime. i think the key is to not push yourself past your personal limits. someone once told me, only drive at 80% of what you think your abilities are...or you will die. he may have been talking about tokai at the time, but i have always applyed it to my everyday driving. BTW the whole reason i started this reply was to tell you all that the day i bought my ac, they were towing out a nismo 370 that billy badass tried to drift and curbed haha. the sales man said that the bill was all on the dealership. he also said that they are not supposed to let people drive like a sausage when they take test drives, so the salesman would most likely be fired.
