Hey guys. I just spent the afternoon trying to remove and replace my BCM in my 95 Q45. The mission was a horrible failure and I'm hoping that I can tap into the collective Q wisdom here for a solution. I managed to get the two nuts that secure the bracket to the firewall off (losing one in the process), but the damn thing still won't come loose. I don't seem to have enough room to unscrew the unit from the bracket or even the bolt that secures the harness. Looking at the new unit, it looks like there's a tab that would accomodate a 3rd bolt, but I can't feel it under there (and I definitely can't see it).

Can anyone help? Is there an easier way of doing this that won't take 12 hours? Every day I've been trying to do this, it's rained here in NJ. Today was the first dry day where I wasn't obligated to do something else and I feel like I wasted my shot.

I know the service manual isn't much help but replacement of the Body Control Module is not very difficult. I remember removing one from a 1994 Q45. I think it was just a couple of 10MM nuts. No swivel sockets required. I am going to the junkyard tomorrow I will take a look again as I think there is a 1994 in the yard.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys. The part that was complicating everything was a black plastic ziptie around the harness that was stopping it from being able to come out. I cut the ziptie and changed out the unit. Steering wheel and seats went back to normal behavior, but the damn mysterious battery drain is back. I had to jump it this morning. And again when I left the office. It doesn't even try to start, just spins the starter.

HatianKing what were your seats/steering wheel doing? Sometimes mine will retract and go back when I open the door to exit but then not return to the setting like they're supposed to. I think it could be the bcm. Its not annoying enough yet for me to work on lol

The steering wheel would not move up or down. It was stuck in the down position. It was able to telescope in and out but not move vertically. The LEDs on the seat memory buttons on the door also flashed whether the car was on or off. Swapping out the BCM cleared these issues up.
