Hey all,
I have a '14 QX80 and while on a trip towing my boat, the BCI malfunctioned and threw up a lot of yellow lights on the cluster including IBA, ABS, 4WD(shortly after startup) BSW and VDC.

I pulled the codes and I'm not quite sure what to make of them as a whole due to not having access to the Consult hardware. To verify no existing codes, I disconnected the battery overnight and the following codes were logged on startup the next day.
  • I think the right rear wheel sensor may be the culprit for many of these codes but without reading the live data, it's just a guess. I did check the resistance of both rear wheel sensors and the right one did have a higher resistance (I can't remember the exact numbers at the moment) but I'm not convinced that is the issue. The resistance on the harness was the same for the left and right side.
  • When the car first starts up, the cluster LCD shows the 4WD system changing ranges. (auto, low, high). It seems like a issue with the knob or other electrical but could erroneous wheel sensor data make the car try to switch 4wd mode?
  • Apparently, the Adaptive headlights are not working. Probably not related.

If anyone could share some first hand knowledge of either further diagnostics or obvious issue, it would be much appreciated!

Also, are there any suggestion for a scan tool to read more data that isn't ridiculously expensive?

The C1105 is the key, you have a bad RH rear wheel sensor. The rest of the codes are pretty much derivative. Get the wheel sensor fixed, then if any of the other codes recur or won't erase, deal with them when you get there. Chances are they'll all go away.

You're most welcome, happy to help. One last thing, drive the vehicle around the block after the repair before trying to clear the codes. Dynamic ABS codes like wheel sensors won't become erasable until the ABS sees the sensor in operation. Once the new sensor passes SRT, the error will go "past" and you can erase it.
