bc valve springs- re shim my rockers?

s13 sr20det mostly stock. spent the last hour searching the forums as well as google... no luck. i plan on installing some bc valve springs with the stock cams. will i need to re shim the head for the springs to work correctly????

as long as you keep the shims in order you should be fine...

Yeah, you should be fine as long as u keep them in order. Unless u have a valve job done while the heads apart. Also i have a set of brand new oem valve guides if u need them!

I didn't. I have tomie 260 procams and BC springs. I also replaced my oem HLA's and rockers while I was in there. That way all the new hardware could break in together. I had 5K miles on my bottom end and 100K miles on my head and some of my HLA's were frozen.

not tryin to thread jack but i have a question. all my shims got out of order how do i get them somewhat in order would i have to re mic them or get new ones?

If the head has never been rebuilt they should all be 3MM i would get a pair of dial calipers and check them all, I no many people on here don't check there clearances, but it is not a good idea i would also get a dial indicator just to be safe and check the clearances. SR20's have very tight specs as far as cam clearances, Nissans spec is less then 1 thousandths on each rocker shim/guide...I am very picky with my sr though..

There is a specific shim measuring tool. I'm not sure exactly who is selling them at the moment though. I was thinking of making some at some point.

Yeah, i made my own when i shimmed my head for my new fully built sr. It was very easy, and pretty cheap!

what happens when you buy the hks head kit, do you still need to shim them? i rather get the hks kit so as it says in labor $$$ anybody have installed the hks head kit yet?
