Hey all

I have a set of BC coilovers with thrust washers.

I installed them to stop the spring binding. A month ago I started noticing a strong creaking noise when turning the wheels. Oddly it comes and goes for a week at a time and then nothing.

I had the car in the shop and finally with a second set of eyes we determined that the driver side spring is twisting and not turning. It's not binding then moving, making clicks like it used to. It's getting stuck entirely and twisting in place.

Has anyone experienced this? I have sprayed some silicon lubricant at the top of the spring, but it doesn't seem to help. I was thinking about wd40, but I'm not sure if that will solve the issue long term.

I want to avoid having the shop disassemble the whole strut assembly as that is very time consuming and expensive.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

My shop says the left front rubber strut mount is being compressed to the point where the springs cant turn. Has anyone ever experienced this? Can I just buy a new mount and replace it?

After I drove it out of the shop, the noise stopped and it probably won't come back for a few days, as it usually happens.

Also I've been getting a lot of clunking in the right rear. From what I've researched it appears that the shock cartridge is defective. the clunking only occurs at low speed and I figure that's because when I'm driving at high speed the air pressure keeps car price down. The clunking probably occurs when the car lifts up after going over a bump.
