Shouldn't affect much. There are a lot of guys in the KA-T forum that throw them in when they rebuilt their cars and just run them to break the motors in. Running the car in N/A form is no problem. IIRC, Mass Air Flow metered systems adapt better to cams than a MAP type system, so you should be good to go.So no, it won't effect much. Other than give you more power up top.

Actually once you go turbo you'll probably make a little more power with the stock cams than with the BC's. NA cams make more power with more lift and duration, cams for turbos however tend to have a smaller duration to them.

Not too sure that BC makes a specific cam for N/A, or Turbo. They just have 'Stages'.

Here's some N/A, and Turbo cams from PDM. Check the specs. http://www.pdm-racing.com/products/cam_corner.html

And here's some from BChttp://www.briancrower.com/mak...shtml

Hope this helps. Read up a little on them and make your own decision. And listen to the people who 'have' them, or 'have had' them. Maybe check some dyno sheets that some of the guys have posted up. I know the KA-T guys love the BC cams after they've gone turbo.

*On a side note, my car is a KA-DE Turbo and it falls on it's face after about 5500-6k or so.

ka-t usually gain a fair amout from cams and widing the power band. with stock cams the ka will stop making power after 5500rpms, the engine cant flow enough air, the valve lift and duration are too short for all the air comming in .. the 264 help them stay open longer helping you to keep making power untill redline..

look at any ka dyno with stock cams around 5400-5600 they dont make more power it slowlys decrease..

when i have enough cash im going with 272 and re doing the valve terrain.. hopefully gona rev it till 7500...

for na you should see good gains.. i cant rember but i was reaing some where of a 200whp n/a ka and it was using the 264's with a built valve terrian..

I love them. Awesome pull to redline. Made me jump off the rev limiter because it pulled so hard. Next week I start my engine rebuild again* and should have her running soon.

I installed them in my s14 after I had the stock ones in while turbo. It was a noticable difference in power on the dyno from about 3200 to redline. A set of stage 2's, cold air, header and ebay exhuast would be decent mods for a dd.

I ran them N/A for a while before I pieced the turbo kit together. You can advance the timing a bit with them and get a nice loopy idle - sounds mean as anything with exhaust. They definately pulled harder, and I didn't feel a power decrease till 6.5K RPM or so. Definately a nice addition.

With turbo, my ECU is tuned for them, so I don't get a loopy idle any more, but it definately pulls hard till redline/shift points.

I'm about to be done with my rebuild, but it'll be a while before I have the money to build a turbo kit for it. I will be sporting the setup described by Brandon93240 above, and am curious what kind of gains this will give me in the meantime. Also, DevilMB3017: How much did you advance your timing with the 264's? A tooth or just sliding the dizzy?

I'm running the stock cams that came in my '93 S13 KA-DE. I only did a mild port and polish job. Really just a gasket match, and smoothing...

Just slide the dizzy a bit. A small bump, worked wonders for idle though. Acutally at the reccomendtion of my engine builder.
