Thinking of replacing my stock BBS wheels on my Q. Only problem is, I don't know how to get to the lugs. The car didn't come with the key thing to take the lug cover off. What would I do if I get a flat?

Get dirty, use your hands, just grip it and turn.

But it looks like there's a lock of some sort. You know? Is it that easy to just pop off without damaging the wheels?

you need to spin it counterclockwise, if its on tight use a strap wrench

You may have after market dealer installed wheels if there is a covered access hole in the hub cover component. These types of hub covers do actually lock on, and not just bayonet mount like the BBS wheels. Upon initial inspection, many of these appear to be the same as the BBS wheels, but they are not which is revealed when examined closely.

The wheels say Elite on the hub covers. There seems to be a lock, similar to one seen on a vending machine front. You know, the one where you need a round key?

I bought the car used so it only came with one key. Well 3 actually. 1 for the ignition, 1 for the doors and trunk, and one midget kit with an Infiniti logo on it. I still haven't figured out what the small key is for.

Wallet key.

You don't have the BBS wheels. Don't know who made Elite wheels. You will have to find a key to unlock the cams holding your covers on.

Hell, if you're going to replace them just use a flathead to pry them off.

Well. I don't have the key and I have no clue who the owner is.

Secondly, what in blazes is the wallet key for? To unlock a miniature Q?

It's for your wallet for emergency.

Look at the cam lock. There is a way to trip it without the key.

Sometimes a bigger hammer and irreparable damage is not the answer.

What sort of emergency? Does the key unlock the doors? Ignition?

Are you just purposely vague?

Lost key for what? I have separate keys for the ignition and the locks.

If I may...............I think he is trying to tell you that you should always have a key in your wallet for emergencies. Since your wallet is with you 90% of the time it is a good place to have a spare key.

Since heavy keychains ruin the Q's weaksauce lock cylinder, I got in the habit of putting one key in my wallet and carrying nothing else.

Ok. It seems like I'm not clear.

I have the following.

1. Ignition key. This key fits in the doors, but doesn't open them.

2. Door and Trunk/Glove Box key. This key fits the ignition but doesn't turn.

3. Unknown key. This key has the edges cut, but no groove down the middle like the other keys.

Now, is this clearer?

Seems like you have some incorrect keys and at least one incorrect blank.

Never had the wallet key for any of mine.

Incorrect keys?

I would assume that the original ignition was redone, hence the separate keys. I'm hoping to eliminate this by installing a keyless entry system/remote starter. Winter's coming.

I doubt that the small grooveless key is a bad spare or whatever. It has all of the "normal" cuts and the notch at the end of the key that locks it in. Just missing the center groove. Did anyone else's Q come with a smaller key? It has a black plastic Infiniti logo on the top of the key. Similar to a Nissan key.

Groveless key was for valet use, would only open doors and ignition - no trunk or glove box access!

Confusing when ignition gets rekeyed without changing all locks to match, the cheap owner method.......................all 5 locks and keys came as a set ................saved money by foregoing door, dash, trunk labor.

OEM is one key for all, plus a limited access valet key.

You should only have separate ignition and door keys if you drive an older GM vehicle.

I see.

So, The small key is a valet key. Thank you.

In order to only have the one key, it'd be best to add a keyless entry/remote start system? Thus eliminating the one door/trunk/glovebox key right?
