bb are water cooled and oil cooled.

Look for four(4) inlets/outlets on the center cartridge. That will be a ball bearing turbo. (99% of the time)If it only has two(2), then it's more than likely a journal bearing type.

I dont think thats right Ez, i know the t25 stock SR turbo has water in/outlets and is shaft driven. Also, what about the stock s14 t28? I cant see them putting water on their t25's and not on the t28's.

If it has two though, its def a standard turbo.

Dont get hung up on a BB turbo. The spool up is barely any faster than that of a good shaft driven turbo(and that research was done through Garrett, who loves to push BB turbos on everyone), and BB turbos have tons of draw backs.

A bb turbo is not rebuildable. A bb turbo costs on average 300-400 dollars more than their journal bearing counterparts.

Thats just the two big cons to a bb turbo off the top of my head.

Also, that ebay kit turbo is def not a BB turbo. Good luck with that kit man, hope it works out for you. Atleast dont cheap on the tuning!

Yea, I wasn't 100% sure on that. But I figured I'd give him something to look for.

And I personally think that a Ball Bearing turbo is only good if you are going to expect your car to last a long time. The longevity is pretty decent on them if they are treated right. From what I've personally experienced, a journal bearing turbo will crap its self soon before a BB would in the same situation.

But then again, I'm known to be wrong. So whatever. lol
