I have a 94' and was wondering where people in my area go for diagnostics and repairs. I live within five miles of Peninsula Infiniti but would rather not, nice dealership but high prices.

There is a specifically Japanese repair shop called A+ Japanese Auto repair here in San Carlos. Has anyone been to this place?

The simplest way is to count the number of your year vehicles in their parking lot awaiting services. If there are none begin to worry, ask them to count their customers and provide you a LIST of cutomers to ohone contact.

Ask what is their annual volume purchased from Infiniti Dealers Pasts Department.

It should be $150-200,000 per year per Infiniti technican.

If they don't purchase the bulk [say 85-90%] of their parts from dealers run away fast.We specialize in Lexus and Infiniti ONLY and as a result always have at least 10 Q45 sometimes 20 parked outside.

Once you've qualified them by number of customers then you ask to see THEIR copy of your FSM, and specialty Nissan Consult computers........NO CONSULT RUN AWAY FAST.

So few Q sold new that very few shops specialize in this brand in any one state since it would require 100 customers per tech to keep doors open.

Alexander recently had a decent experience with Niello Infiniti and a not so good experience at Marin Infiniti.

BadQ45t recommends Richard's Auto in San Bruno at $85/hr:

Yes, for sure Richard's is the way to go IMHO. Call up Barry or David and tell them Jeff Leeds sent you. I have sent many friends to them now with various Japanese makes and all were happy.

I have not experienced A+ but know the A+ Japanese just from seeing it on the street. I have had several things done on 97' at Richards and they are great, they care about the work and at $85 an hour that is like what half of Peninsula?

I bought my Q from Shen before they turned into Peninsula and I like them, their Service Manager Ron is a great guy, but you just don't take cars to dealerships after warranties expire except for quick oil changes and/or if you have no choice...or if you just want to throw away cash. They will put you in the poor house quickly...and BTW Richard's has the transmission flush systems etc. He just did the power steering rack on my 300ZX and did a great job!!
