Ok the obvious two big players in the street turbo game for RWD SR's are the T25 flanged turbos from Garrett and HKS, the GT2871R and GT-RS (The GT3071r happens to be the largest T25 flanged but is overlooked and thus I will leave it out of this discussion, however I will leave the poll open so that if the popularity of an overlooked turbo happens to be greater than anticipated, it will still have a place )respectively. Despite the amazing powerband and response of these turbos, (not to mention their stock mounting characteristics) it seems they are A. Highly misunderstood B. Underrated C. Overrated. What I'm looking to establish here is an average of these turbo's max whp and wtq, so it can be compiled and laid to rest. So what we are going to do is open a poll. I will from the start include the 2 obvious and most popular. Post your REALIZED not ANTICIPATED whp and wtq numbers and at what RPM it was reached. Include supporting mods as well. Let's get 'er done.

Haha. I have hella love for my stock T25. It still boosts like a champ. But we're talking big leagues here.

I wouldnt call 2871R big leagues. Its more of a basic upgrade after boltons IMO. Anything T2 is Little League. Top Mount goes into Big Leagues. But anyways.

2871R .86 with Greddy Intake Manifold and HKS 264 Step 1 Cams.14psi @ 4400rpm16psi @ 4600rpm19psi @ 4800rpmDont have solid numbers because my clutch was slipping badly but i managed 354whp 306tq and power was climbing past 7500rpm.

Despite the late full boost, smashing the gas from 4krpm really takes off.

If i did it again, i would have gone Top Mount T3 2871R .82. Much better flow charectoristics. Would spool alot faster and make more power to 8000rpm. Just nobody uses it because T2 is bolton.

Please nobody put too much emphasys on dyno numbers alone. Numbers can lie. Track results tell the real truth. If i dont Trap 121mph (400whp) with this turbo, im putting my 2871R .64 back in because the loss in spool isnt worth the so called extra HP. I kinda think the .86 is restrictive with the T2 flange. Kinda like a bottleneck. Little exhaust gets in for the size of the turbine housing. .64 is probably better match for T2 flange but i could be wrong. We will know soon enough.

I dont understand why there is both HKS GT-RS and GT2871r... They are the same thing except the GT-RS has 52 trim instead of 57 trim.

Anyways, I run the GT-RS turbo and I like.

I want a GT2871R since I think 350whp would be nice but this makes me think.

if you want 350RWHP, GT2871R is the perfect turbo. the GT28RS doesnt give you much benefit in lag time versus the GT2871R and the 2871R will flow much more form mid to top range.

There was a dyno chart floating somewhere on FA showing the comparison of GT28RS and GT2871R and they both spooled the same but the 2871R had much more torque gain over a broad powerband.

T25 shouldn't even be on the list. Sure it makes boost quickly, but it also drops off after 6000rpm. Should have the T28 on the list instead.

I didn't put it on myself. I made the mistake of thinking that people would take this thread seriously. Stupid huh?

I dunno. I definitely thought it was. 400rwhp in an S is definitely enough to make me scared $hitless.

You get used to 400hp pretty quickly. Im ready to step up to GT35R and 600whp.
