So i came home went to bed and the next morning went out to start it and it was dead so this time i jumped it and let it run for almost 3 hours to hopefully charge up the battery, so i did that then i drove for like 45 min to disney parked went back to my car a few hours later it started right up drove home blah blah blah then the next morning which would be this morning it was dead again i was like WTFFF, so i jumped it let it charge a bit but i don't want to have to get a jump everywhere i go how do i determine if i need a new battery or a new alternator or maybe neither im not sure but for the first couple weeks i drove it i never had any issues like this once so ever so it leads me to believe battery but im just pretty confused any and all inputs greatly appreciated thanks.
yeah i was happy to hear that, but they said they wouldn't do it cause i need to change the terminals because the battery that was in there had threaded posts and none of there's are threaded. So i got little adapter pieces for them and i don't mind doing it myself. They also just told me to bring my old battery back when i switch it and they'll refund the core charge of like $12 so it works out.qship96 wrote:Why didnt you just have the guys at Autozone install your new battery right there in their parking lot when you bought it? They do that free of charge and take your old junk one for recycling.
Good to hear about your alternator and starter!!!

Yeah, I could've told you it was the battery. I had the same issue a month ago when I was out of town for vacation. You should've purchased your battery at Wally World especially for the cost of the cca. I have a 5yr warranty from Wal-Mart.My President is Black wrote:

don't hate
That's true. I purchased my last battery 12/05 and it died 5/09...so it lasted a little over 3yrs. I wish that you could get early signs if you needed the battery...hell I didn't find out I need one until I was unloading my luggage at the hotel on my vacation!!!Q45tech wrote:Having owned the same Q for 19.5 years, I have had to adjust to the FACT that every brand of battery I've selected [purchased 6] has been done by 3 years of use*, whether the Q was domiciled in Tampa or Atlanta or spent half it's hours in North Carolina.
What is scarey is that usually to the MONTH [June - July] it gets replaced.
Same with shocks except that May and 4 years are the units life.
With both the sudden heat seems to be correlative.
In each of the 3 years the mileage varied dramactically some as low as 30,000 miles some as high as 100,000 miles but all in all the number of daily cranks was roughly equal. Usually less than 10.
So <10,000 cranks and the battery was done.
