My battery for my 08 altima coupe is completely done, keeps on discharging and having to jump it so I took it to the Nissan dealer and they told me that the warranty on the batteries are different than normal 3yr/36000 warranty and that the warranty on the batteries are only 1yr/120000.

Is this correct or total bull?Any input will be helpful, i know that couple of other members had to replace the batteries on their coupes and I’m wondering if you guys had to pay for the batteries (if so how much) or if it was under warranty?

My Altima came from the selling dealer with a zippered pouch in the glove box. In the zippered pouch was a Nissan Altima Owner’s Manual, and a Nissan Warranty Information Booklet.

I can’t speak for you, but there is a chance your Altima left the selling dealer’s lot with that same pouch in the glove box. If you have a warranty booklet, show it to this dealer. This a perfect example of why an owner needs to take the time to read the Owner’s Manual, and the Warranty booklet.

Here is what the Warranty Booklet has to say about the battery:

ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT BATTERY COVERAGE Page 5

The coverage period is 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. A defective original equipment battery which is unserviceable within the first 12 months and 36,000 miles will be replaced free of charge. After 12 months but within 24 months and 36,000 miles, you will pay 50% of the replacement battery’s suggested retail price plus any applicable taxes. After 24 months but within 36 months and 36,000 miles, you will pay 75% of the replacement battery’s suggested retail price plus any applicable taxes. Nissan will pay the rest, including all labor to remove and replace the defective battery.

Thanks for this, mine is barely gonna make it through winter but at almost 30K, it's be cheaper to go get a new one at the local yokal auto store...I have had Duralasts that last longer than head gaskets...screw Nissan Service, its not the mechanics its their bosses who don;t know s*** about s***

Looks like my battery is dead. After 4 mornings of around -20 degrees it is gone. I got a jump at work, drove home and then tried starting it again and no juice. Im getting a DieHard Gold, my wife's CRV has one and it is going on 10 years.
