So I have put 2 10" kicker l7's in my car with a rockford 1000 watt amp. When i listen to them loud my headlights dim. I was gonna get a more powerful battery to support my new system and some HIDS that i was going to get as well. i was gonna get a yellow top optima but it wont match my red car. i know, really dumb lol but what do you guys use?

do it in stages... try to spend the least amount of money to achieve what you want.. your L7's draw a lot of power to run..... 1st, I say do a 0-gauge Big 3 upgrade.2nd, I say replace your factoryt battery with a Kinetik HC1800 battery... all of the new optimas are recylced, some folks have been having problems with the new optimas' power cells failing, but some haven't.. its kind of hit or miss with optimas... most folks nowadays swear by Kinetik!

3rd, add another power cell in your trunk. This can be a second battery or something like a BATCAP or a smaller Kinetik power cell. I'm running a Kinetik hc1800 for the factory replacement and two Kinetik HC600's in the trunk!

Last, you have a 2.5, so your alternator is only 110 amps... you can either get your alternator rewound (to something like 150), or you can buy a high output alternator. The second option is usually more expensive and in my opinion should only be done if all else fails.

**EDIT** sorry for all the typos earlier, I rarely check my spelling when typing on this forum... I've corrected most of em now!

If this we're Yahoo! answers, you would have got the best answer. I appreciate all the help you've given me BTW. I looked at your setup and was thinking about the Kinetic battery. Pretty pricy from what I've seen. What did you pay for yours? Where did you pick it up?

You can get an 1800 for about 225 ish shipped off eBay. I've bought a couple of Kinetik batteries on eBay with success. Or, if you look at other places I've seen people selling the Kinetik HC1800 for under 200 shipped (slightly used though). I would also highly recommend Kinetik. Mine have treated me quite well.

Any drawbacks to buying slightly used?

Not in my opinion. Some people are just opposed to buying used though...

I personally am opposed to buying used... you never know what happened to something before you got it.. also, there's too many ebay suppliers of Kinetik products at good prices! I bought mine from ebay, I believe Applebonker did also!

Since you are the A/V GODS I am gonna go with Kinetic instead of Optima. Still doesnt help the matching my car factor but oh well. Thanks for your help!

NO, it doesn't help the matching of your car, but honestly, the last two car shows I went to AUTOBACS A/V soundoff, San Diego Autofest, etc... almost every show /custom car was sporting Kinetik batteries... folks understand when it comes to Kinetik!
