Hi,I have a 1990 Maxima SE, over the years of ownership, I have replaced the battery many times and never had such an issue; yesterday when I tried to jump the dead battery, the factory alarm went off. Since I don't have a remote control, I could not shut it off. After I bought a new battery (I thought jumping the battery may be the culprit), when I tried to start the car, the alarm went off again. I know it has something to do with re-setting the alarm, possibly by turning the key to the "ignition" position a few times, but I am not exactly sure the right sequence or procedure. Can someone please recommend a solution?Thank you in advance.Regards,jlee4171

In my experience either you have to have the key in the igniton and turned to ACC. Or just put the terminals on in the right order. I worked at a few car dealerships and whenever a car needed to be boosted if we put the connections on in the wrong order then the alarm would go off. but i dont remember if it was poitive or negative first...

Thanks, Devon, for the tips. I tried both last night but it did not help. I had to get out of the car and use the key to lock the door in order to turn off the alarm, so that solved my problem. But I still don't understand what triggers the alarm to go off in the first place???
