Has anybody replaced the battery on their 2006 M35? I am looking to do this in the very near future. After noticing my car wasn't starting cleanly, I had the battery tested and it was confirmed that it was no good and needed replacement. Just wondering if anybody here has DIY and can provide some feedback. Thanks!

Pretty simple process.

You're basically removing the hold-down, loosening the clamps, removing the battery, and installing a new one.

If you're not comfortable with it, most auto parts stores will install a newr battery for you while you wait (for free). Also, the dealer will do so as well.

I understand the dealer has the ability to keep power on to the many computers in the overall system, as he changes out the battery. I think you may want the dealer to do it to save all your setting. IU'm not sure, but I would check first. Good Luck

This is not a easy process on a Infiniti Mx5..There are plastic panels you need to remove..when working on the M remember engineers like plastic!!!

Remove 4 covers to remove and replace the battery:
1. Cover over the windshield washer reservoir (I leave these off anyways)
2. Cover that says BATTERY on it
3. Cover that holds the battery cover
4. Cover over the bottom edge of the windshield on passenger side (trick here)

That last part is a little deceptive, because it looks like the windshield ledge over would require the removal of the wiper arms. This is not true. The cover is actually divided into two pieces. You only need to remove the rubber gasket from the top edge, then unclip the passenger side from the rest. Look at the middle there is a clip at bottom edge and you see small line separating them. Pull left piece towards front and it will snap out. That snap is all that holds it.

Now finally you can remove the battery like a normal car.. The infiniti engineers are not normal..;-)
