Battery replacement and anti-theft activating

I searched the forum, and could not find anything on this topic. I have a 1994 Q45. The battery went dead a few days ago. It would not even crank. I removed the battery and went to the auto parts store for a replacement. I repalced the battery. When I connected the terminals, the horn started beeping and the engine would not start. I assume the anti- theft system has engaged. I tried putting the key in the ignition, it did not start and the horn kept beeping. I have tried various combinations, and the horn continues to beep when I connect the cables to the terminals and it still won't start. How do I resolve this? Is there some sort of reset that I need to do? I appreciate any help you can provide. Replacing a battery can't be that complicated.

Just so everyone knows, he sent me an email and I suggested that he unlock and lock the car with the key in the door after replacing the battery with the HOOD SHUT.
