On battery relocation.......the little connector with 3 wires that connects to the + battery terminal.....in this "how 2" guide, it says to simply cut it off, and run wires with ring terminals to the starter post where the + battery cable hooks up to, and connect them there. Has anyonetried or had any issues doing this? Is there a need to put in 3 in-line fuses to be on the safe side? What exactly is that connector....fusable link or something? Here's the linky http://www.projectautox.com/battery_relocation.php

Thanks for any help

When I did it on a friend's car the other day, we just ran a wire from the back seat (battery is on the floor behind driver) to the engine bay and hooked it up to the wires that would otherwise go to the battery. The battery has the positive wire on an 80A fuse 3" from the terminal. It works just fine and only cost us about $15 in 2GA wire from Lowes.

How about the connector....

Is it safe to just cut it off, and extend the wires to the starter post, like in the above link?

serious???

you can just cut that piece off and extend all the wires on it onto the starter and hook the + wire of the battery reloc onto the starter post as well??

I mean, the guy obviously did it and there are no pictures of the car on fire or anything. Man I would just run a cable to those two and tuck them behind the battery tray and not deal with the starter. I have done it the other way a few times, but never with the starter.

On the other hand, it wouldn't be a published writeup if it was wrong.

so what is that connector....just a connector, or some kind of fusible link or something.

Don't know, don't care. I don't have mine anymore and my battery is still under the hood.

there is no fusible link or built in resistance, in the red box.

I simply bolted the copper lead of the red box, to the batter's positive pole. Then extended the white wires. I also but a fuse in for the accessories.

If that makes sense.

woah woah.... those three white wires need to go to the positive side of the battery. those wires power your fuel pump/ interior/ exterior/ accessories.

Day and a dollar to late....I just put in a new red top, and the car fired right up....fuel pump sounds normal, exterior and interior lights/ accessories all work fine. As I was attaching the 3 wires to the starter post, I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter if those 3 wires are hooked up to the battery itself, or the starter post, which the other end of the + battery cable hooks up to.....either way it's hooked up to the + side of the battery......am I right???

like the guy said with the pee on honda sig said...the starter post pretty much acts as a linking node for 3 wires <==> battery (+)
