Other than providing more space and looking cleaner for some folks, is there any gain at all for moving it..

I know it doesnt weigh a ton, but if it was moved to the back would it provide better weight dist. etc?

/end stupid question

Weight that you can move from the front to the back is almost always better for f/r weight ratio. (In this case especially) Also, if you plan on using a turbo'd motor with a fmic, you have to move it. The battery would severly interfere with the plumbing. But this is all just my opion, take it for what you will.

and it loks spiffy if someone opesn your hood and goes"dude, where the.." then you point to your stripped trunk with a full-size VOLK spare and battery box and cusco C/F strut bar and they go"whoa"

and you win smilies all around from car fanatics.

at least, thats what mine did...oh yeah, and it cleaned up the engine bay, and helped with weight distribution.-chet

Doesn't it also give you more room if you plan on fabbing a short ram intake.

also allows you to offset the weight of a dual stage nitrous system by mounting the battery on the other side of the trunk from the bottles ;)

i think its better if you just have the battery on the passengers side of the trunk because the weight of the driver adds weight to the other side.

while we are on this subject i am about to do this mod and was wondering what all is need to complete it. or if i should just go and buy the kit from heavy throttle?

A battery is not heavy enough to make a measureable difference in a street car handling. The only reason to relocate it would be to create space in the engine compartment if you're doing mods that require more room. Otherwise all you're doing reducing your useable luggage space.

its more significant than you think. how much does a battery weigh? about 20lbs? thats removing 20lbs from the very front of the car and adding 20 lbs to the very rear. it would be similar to adding 40lbs of weight to the trunk

Shifting 40 lbs is still insignificant in a street car. Let me put it this way, can you feel a HUGE difference in handling driving on the street when you have a half tank of gas versus a full tank? That's about the difference we're talking about. The 240 already has excellent weight distribution and a great suspension. Much better than you think.

its definetly a worthwhile and noticable modification. i put mine all the way back on the passenger side.having more weight on the back is better for rwd. stock 240s are front heavy.

and with my open dif the passengers side rear wheel is always the one the ends up spinning so any extra weight i can move over top that wheel will help me out

you can put it anywhere on the chasis that will have a clean connection although you can most likley find a ground spot used by some other part of the car. think i read that someone used the ground spot that the tail lights use.
