hi!
I have a 2019 Nissan Leaf Plus. Now has about 47K miles on it.

When I first got it a fully charged battery would project more than 240 miles of travel.
This has held fairly steady; perhaps a small decline.

In the past week, the projected mileage has abruptly gone from 230 or more down to 180.

Any ideas what is going on?

I plan to get it checked at the dealer I got it from.

thank you
John

Sounds like maybe your battery has started to lose capacity. How many bars are you showing on the dash? The Leaf has a special warranty for that, IIRC on a '19 it's 8 years / 100K. To be warrantable it needs to be down at least 4 bars.

The lithium-ion battery coverage period is 96 months or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. This warranty covers any repairs needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship subject to the exclusions listed under the heading “WHAT IS NOT COVERED”.

if I poke around in the many menu options, I find "Battery Capacity". This graphic has two parts: 4 white circles vertically arranged to the Left, and a horizontal scale with 14 marks on it.

That said I see little for optimism here. 3 of the 4 white circles are empty. There is nothing on the horizontal axis.

The battery is charging and is at 64% as I type this. The projected mileage for that is 119 miles.

The SOH should be part of this group, if you page through it you should find a 12-bar graph. At 8 bars out of 12 the battery is warrantable. Note that all Leaf LIon batteries tend to lose the first 8~10% of capacity pretty quickly, then the loss rate becomes much more gradual. That's actually typical of LIon batteries in general. If you want to know the exact SOH without a dealer visit, the "Battery Cells" screen in Leaf Spy displays it at the top.
