Hey guys, I have a 180sx with a CA18DET in it. I have a FMIC, which unfortunately means there isn't much room for a battery due to its piping. The battery that was in there has recently died on me. The space in which I need the battery fit is 5x7.5 inches. Do you know where I can find a battery of this size? I went to Canadian Tire and they said they have motorcycle batteries but they don't have enough amps to crank over a car engine. How many amps do I need to crank over a ca18det? These motorcycle batteries had about 350, and they were saying I will need around 500 or 600. Can you guys help me out on where to buy a battery for my car? I really don't want to do a trunk relocation.

I spent $15 at AutoZone for a plastic battery box and relocation kit. I have seen a lot of people use motorcycle batteries but I like the look and ease of relocating it.

Until you go to the drag strip and need an external kill switch that also kills the charging circuit. Then it becomes not so easy.

I have a PC680. Worked great all summer, now not so much, wont even crank the engine. I dont think it is the fact of the lower CCA i believe the battery is just dead. I am still investigating. Will let you guys know when i figure out the problem.

oddessy makes some nice compact performance batteries. IIRC a company called CPE make a hot billet mount for the battery too.

The starter draws about 100-125 amps.

all u need is 330ish CCA for a CA most any lawn garden battery will work, or u can use a battery relocate like i have, and use whatever battery u like. I got a group 35/75 optima red in my trunk. no problems there.

duralast battery from autozone..i went to the battery section and picked out the smallest battery with normal terminals..works awesome, cranks over my engine like it was a weedwacker..the engine hasnt been running long enough to judge its longetivity...but it has ok reserve time for being a lawnmower batter

Or you could not drag race your 240? Everybody here with a cheap lawn mower battery has to keep replacing it every year? $15 and I KNOW when I go to start my car I wont have a problem.

They always have a one year warranty so I haven't actually had to buy one yet. They just replace it every year.

It helps that I'm friends with the guys down there, and they don't care either.

If I was having to pay for them every year, I'd get an oddessy.
