was the alternator a new one or reman? i work at autozone and some of the remans (duralast, granted they have a lifetime warranty) arent as good as they appear to be. if its a reman try another one or get a brand new one. the regulator is a pretty common failure point. if its all good check the wiring, big issues can be had because of stupid wiring faults. ex: pinched, corroded, rubbing, shorted, broken

Double check your engine to chassis and chassis to battery grounds. You can also measure the voltage between the block itself and the positive terminal of the alternator when it is running and compare that to what you are seeing at the battery.

First make sure you have a good fully charged battery are all your in car test will be meaningless.

Then do a voltage drop test.( what "the converted" said to do. )

Like DryskalM3S13 said, most reman generators suck from autozone, pep boys, etc... I would go with a factory one.
