battery light?

i just noticed the battery light on when i was driving tonight.... i just put a new battery in not too long ago...what could be causeing this?

the battery light comes on when the alternator is not charging, right? i guess you did not tighten the battery connections enough. the battery connections have to be tight. or , battery is defective. or, it is the alternator. or, the alternator belt is slipping.

turned out to be a crapped out alternator which also killed my battery.... changed both and now it runs fine....
