Battery light is on when the ignition is off, 93 Sentra

1993 Sentra GA16DE

This is wierd. The battery light is on when the ignition is off. I start the car and it goes out, shut the car off and it comes on.

I did degrase the engine last night by garden hose, what did I burn up now?
