My 91 240sx battery light is on. During the day It is not or it is very dim to the point that I can't see it, but at night it is bright red staring me in the face. Also when I accelerate hard at night the battery light starts to blink at me until about a week ago when the ignition coil decided to die so I replace that and the new one only lasted 3 days so now I am frustrated that I think my car has a more serious electrical problem.

Pretty much I searched and it seems to be the alternator causing the battery light issue. I just wanted to verify that it is the reason for my problem and could this also be the reason for the coil taking a dump? thanks

Hmmm,

I was thinking that either my alternator or ignition coil was going up. I hope the replacement alternator fixes the issue.

Let me know what you find. My battery issue sounds VERY similar to yours, except I have a MAJOR bogging issue.

My battery light is not noticeable during the day, however, at night it is. Also, when I rev my car to about 4500 rpms...in gear or in neutral, the battery light starts to blink.

batt light should be alternator related. usually it is the alternator itself but not always. you can check the plug on the alternator to see that it has 12v at one of the wires.
