hi ive got a 91 240 with the ka24de in it and my battery keeps dying. we thought it was a bad alternator so i replaced it and the belt and i even had the battery checked and it is good but the car will only run for as long as the battery has a charge its like the alternator is not re-charging the battert so we are thinkin that it is prolly a wiring problem somewhere.

look at the fuse box to your left underneath the hood. open it up and check the 75A fuse. its big and should be grey. look through its clear top, the metal inside should be connected if not its blown, i had this same problem. you can get a new one from a nissan dealership for about $15

You could also be having a battery drain while the car is off - something might be sucking power while the car is not running. You can run a battery drain test at most local shops to see how much power is consumed while the car is off.

If the Altinator and the Battey both check good off the car then you need to make a quick test with everything in the car.

1. Charge battery to over 12 Volts2. Start car like normal.3. Messure voltage at battery WITH CAR RUNNING. Should be at least 13.5 volts. If not, then check the altinator wiring. If yes than charging system is probably ok.

Thsi sounds wierd but if the altinator does not hav eeither a dash light or a meter in the circuit then it WILL NOT excite properly and will not charge the battery. Check the FSM.
