I just bought a 93 240sx that needed some work. So far I've done tie rods, a front crank seal, rear struts, removed the spoiler and patched the rust holes, and little stuff here and there.

Now that I've done all of that, my battery idiot light has started to glow anywhere from about 1/4 to 3/4 intensity. I read previous posts on the board and checked my alternator voltage, and it is putting out 14.2 volts. My battery seems okay, it holds a charge and I never have problems starting. I replaced the negative battery groudn cable, as someone previously suggested, and that didn't work either. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to try and get rid of this, or should I just ignore it? Thanks.

welcome to the forums.

Well, check your battery level before you start the car, - 12 you are ok

after you start the car, 13-14 you are ok

after you let it warm up a bit - 13-14 you are ok

and after you drive it a while when you see the 3/4 intensity - 12-13 you are ok.

what's a battery idiot light?

anyways, you can always get your battery and alternator checked at autozone/kragen for free, maybe that's a good start

Follow-up...

Battery idiot light = the battery light on the dashboard.

I had my system tested, turns out the battery was freaking out under load, a new battery took care of it. As an added bonus, I found one of my timing chain guides wedged between the old battery and the side of the car...didn't see that one coming. Guess I won't have to take those out myself. Thanks for your help guys.
