I believe my battery has gone to hell, (I hope it's that opposed to the alternator.) The nearest infiniti is 30 miles away, so I figure I'll just test the battery first at a napa before I actually have it towed in. Is there anything dealing with the ECU I should be worried about when disconnecting the battery?

no, I've replaced my without issue. Have also disconnected the battery numerous times in order to clean the terminals.I like the Duralast batteries from Autozone.Napa does have some good ones too.Feedback here on Interstate has been impressive.

If it's a coupe you might want to crack the windows open a bit before disconnecting the battery. Once the current to the windows got cut off they can't drop down when the door opens or closes. You know as you open or close the door the window has to drop a bit from its fully raised position to make enough space to pass the edge of the roof, which bents down a little towards the edge of glasses.

Or when you closing or opening the door the window will hit the edge and break the glass.
