Hi, I know nothing about cars so I have come here for help from the experts. i have a 2011 M37X. 120,000 km (75,000 miles). I need a new battery. What battery should I purchase? Highest performance. I don't mind if it is more expensive. I want the best. Thank you for your help. It's greatly appreciated. :) :) :)

Welcome to the forum!

I would go to your local Sears or Walmart and buy whichever one fits your car (I have an M56x so unforunately I can't tell you the size - not sure if they are the same) that has the highest CCA rating (cold cranking amps). The higher the rating, the better the battery. I vaguely recall that most auto parts stores like Pep Boys or Autozone will even install the battery for you, but don't quote me on that.

I think I have a Sears Diehard battery (my car died in the parking lot right as I was leaving an alignment appointment lol - luckily).

If you are looking to replace it yourself, you can use the FAQ link in my signature to get access to the FSM (factory service manual) which should have the instruction on how to change it. You might need to reference the FWD section (which is basically the index).

I had a interstate megatron ,it does in 18 months. Got my money back.bought a red optima advance auto with 20% off coupon for 147.00.backed by 3 year warranty.no questions asked. So far so good.buy it online and pick up at closest store to u.online there's always coupon codes.its a size 35 battery.i also run air suspension, dual compressors which draws alot if amps. and leave my car in acc mode all day at car shows.always starts right up. I first doughted these batteries but I'm a firm believer now.

I pick one of the larger, more common auto part store local to me and buy the best battery (best warranty) they have. This way if (really when) it fails you can easily walk in and exchange/return/replace it without worrying about shipping. I got an O'Reilly Super Start Platinum AGM battery at least two years ago and still no issues. With 20+ location I know I can get a replacement when I need it.

My battery is feeling the cold weather. I'm going to Costco and getting an interstate battery. I MIGHT consider a Optima red or yellow if you guys can ahead some light on those of they are really worth the money.

What size are we looking at 24/78?

Thanks

We discussed it a bit HERE.

I was a Optima battery user for 10+ years. Mostly because I liked the way they looked under the hood. The last few did not last nearly as long as the previous ones and they are not as easy to find and get warranty replaced anymore (my Costco and local stores stopped carrying them). So I switched to a good battery that will be easy to replace close to home, or anywhere really. Same AGM technology but with no hassle replacements and a lower initial cost.

Batteries are like motor oils or cell phone brands. Lots of people with varying experiences and opinions.

Thanks for all your help. I ended up getting the red top Optima. The shop by my place had it in stock so I decided to try it. Now if I could only figure out why when I sit in my car at night the headlights seem to be very dim. It's very frustrating. :gotme

HID bulbs degrade with usage. Your bulbs likely have 6 years on use on them already. I would start by replacing them. Lookey HERE.

Sweet thanks debonair. I will purchase the Osram 66240NB Xenarc D2S Nightbreaker Bulb. I don't need to purchase any ballasts or anything else do I? Just take old bulb out. Put new bulb in. That's it?

So I decided to go to Costco and get an Interstate battery (24F). $83.99 which was about $50-75 cheaper than the other retailers. Install wasn't as bad as it looked. It has a 42 month direct exchange which is nice.
