The car was not running and thereforedid not catch on fire. I have to get a new battery in the morningcause all the stores are closednow. should i do anything b/4attempting to install a new battery? Whats the worst damageor the least.

Clean everything in sight with a paste made of baking soda and water. Depending on how long the acid was in there, this should reduce the corrosion later. Were you charging the battery?

Immediately hose down any affected surfaces to dilute the acid before applying a base like baking soda. Then get a hose attached sprayer with a solution of the baking soda. You want to get any concetrated acid puddles diluted first. First dilute and then neutralize the acid. If you dilute the acid enough, it shouldn't damage your driveway much at all. Lots of water first and ASAP.
