friend of mine has an sr in his s13. for a while the battery has been draining power, so if the car hasn't been driven for a day or two, the battery dies and needs to be charged. the battery is relocated in the trunk because of custom intercooler piping for his fmic that allows no battery to go in the bay. he has replaced the battery with an optima redtop. what are some suggestions to troubleshoot the problem?

i already replaced the ground and i am going to trace the power line running to the trunk to make sure there are no tears or anything, but what else could be causing this?

thanks.

yup, u got a parasitic load > than normal...

place an multimeter in series w/ the - battery terminal & ground, read how many amps are going to ground...

then pull 1 fuse @ a time to isolate which circuit has the parasitic load.

from there, you'll have to trace the wires...

ok you either have a short somewhere that is draining power nonstop or your alternator is dying( the alternator will do the oposite of what its suppose to do if its no good) go get the alternator checked out to make sure its still good. if its good then you have to find the shorted out wire by doing what ricebike was saying. first just check out anything that has wires connected to it that you messed with recently.

I agree it could be the alt. The alt needs + power to start charging so you may have a bad diode or just some wires mixed up
