I am trying to trace down a battery drain issue on my sons 93 240sx convertible. So far I have removed the Viper alarm/remote start unit which doesn't work half the time anyway. When I take the negative lead off of the battery and replace it, I'm hearing a click from inside each door. I used my inspection camera and found that the door lock actuator( I'm assuming thats what it is) is engaging inside of the door as I remove/replace the battery lead. Am I correct in assuming that this is normal as the viper system also had the keyless entry? Should I remove the panel and disengage the actuators? Or am I barking up the wrong tree altogether? I have removed all of the fuses and checked for arc in the battery lead but haven't been able to find any that are related to stopping the arc. I have been looking for the door lock relay/fuse, but no luck.
One thing I have considered is the starter. It works fine, but I know from experience in the past with other vehicles that it can cause battery drain issues.
I know that electrical issues are normal for these cars, so someone out there must have some insight.

I'm more inclined to think that either you have a bad battery or a bad alternator. Have you tested the alternator and battery? BTW, here's a direct link to the '93 240sx FSM.

240s use a single wire actuator setup that requires an additional relay to be put in line when you install Viper systems. Check up near the door timer in the pass kick panel for any cobbled relay setup (that's where I put mine).

Being a vert, what has been done electrically to it? 5 speed swap? Obviously the alarm. Motor swap? Has it been over lowered (wheels can rub the wiring harness in the wheel well on over lowered cars)?

How fast is the car draining the battery?

Thanks for responding. The car is completely stock. Found a relay under the drivers side dash where the viper box was. As far as I know, all of the wiring for the viper has been removed. It was a professional installation and was fairly easy to remove. (except for laying on my back, upside down with my feet on the headrest and my head on the brake pedal, still feeling it in my neck.) The 5 speed, motor swap, lowering, etc will come later if my son decides to keep the car. He is 6'-1" and 240 lbs so its kind of a tight squeeze. The battery drains over night unless I unhook the negative terminal, then its fine. I have an inspection camera and I stuck it in the door panel and watched the lock actuator as my son reconnected the battery. The cover on the actuator is clear and I could see a tiny lever engaging as he did it. The H/L ret down relay also clicks occasionally when doing this. Not to be long winded but one other thing. When my sister in law had the car the headlights did that thing that the nissans do. One light would not come up/go down. My father in law, being the resourceful fella he is, wired straight from the drivers side headlight to the passenger side and the problem was solved. Could that be causing some kind of drain. If it was me I would have replaced the headlight switch like I had to do in the 2 300zx's I had. Any ideas would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks
