Hi, im from 240sxforums.com (LOL) and no one can answer my question, so i came here. You guys are a bit more technical, as i see after browsing a bit, so i figured id give it a shot.
Ive been tackling this battery drain for weeks now. Ive replaced the battery, alternator, and ground wires. No avail. I attempted to lcate the draw, by pulling all the fuses in the car, and the only draw i can find on the battery from the fuse panel is a .30 amp (i think its .3, but multimeters are SOOOO confusing) from the 15 amp "AUDIO" fuse in the engine bay fuse box. I unlugged it and the front speakers dont work. i have an aftermarket amp for the rear speakers and they still play, so im assuming this fuse powers the factory amps. The clock and dome light too but i turned the dome light off, checked the trunk light, and the clock pull is negligible.
Even with that fuse pulled, battery still dies!
i dont get it. i retested and theres no voltage to the body when the negative terminal is connected....but with the negative terminal is d/c and i try it theres a reading. I believe thats normal. Theres no resistance between grounds, so im lost.
what else can kill a battery???? With everything disconnected it doesnt die, but is it possible that my battery is still bad? Could it be that with any load whatsoever, no matter how small, it cant hold its charge? Is that even POSSIBLE? God im sooooo tired of this. This is by far the most aggravating problem i have ever had with my 240sx.
ONE MORE TING!i have the digital multimeter that comes with a continuity tester with the beeping noise. when you touch the probe together you hear a beep, and thats means there is continuity between the probes (i think?). I touched the (-) and (+) terminals together and there is no beep. i touch a ground to a ground and it beeps. Is that bad, normal, or inconclusive?
