Hi all,

I purchased a 1993 j30t for my daughter in August., in november the wet oregon season started and lo and behold we discovered a sunroof leak. We garaged the car and dried it out. Shortly after, the car would not start every time, and finally would not start at all. I had the car towed to my mechanic and found that the ecm had sustained water damage. He bypassed the stock coil relay . The car seemed to be repaired starts just fine etc. but now we have a battery drain it happens overnight sometimes and other times it lasts a couple of days. I don't want to keep throwing good money after bad, can anybody tell me if the mechanics low cost fix is (bypassed relay) could be the cause of the drain or maybe another component like a fuel pump conected to the ecm as well?

thanks for any help I can get.

Really what you do to find a drain like that is pull each fuse individually while looking at the current flow on the battery... So you grab your VOM, see what kind of amperage its pushing, then start pulling fuses one by one and see what causes the meter to drop to 0...

Hi Wes thanks for the response. I'm not to expierienced with electrical. Where do you connect the VOM to get the amperage reading? I'm guessing you don't connect directly to the battery.

I'm glad I found this forum it is definitly the best.
