alright well I've had this problem with my car for well over a year now and it has given me all sorts of headaches. Basically any time the car sits for a lengthy period of time (say, 16 hours) the battery dies because there's a constant drain on it. I just have to recharge the battery and then give the relays a tap to release something and she starts back up but it's a pain in the you know what. It's an SR20det rwd red top and I'm not sure if this is a typical problem or what. We've replaced every relay, had four different mechanics look at it and nobody seems to be able to find the problem. I understand this is a bit of an asinine question given the huge amount of things that could be causing it but I'm really stuck. Failing an answer, does anyone know of anybody with extensive experience working with these engines in the MA/RI area?

thanks a ton

My guess is a shorted wire is causing a relay to see some feedback and stay open, which in turn drains the battery. Which relay was the one you were primarily messing with?

Definitely sounds like short circuit.

Hook up a continuity detector between battery ground terminal and ground wire to car and start pulling plugs to see where the short is.

I had this problem with the rear hatch area light.
