Yes, they use a gel material instead of the "regular battery acid" crap that leaks/spills/is generally nasty stuff. You can mount them in any position, they do not leak, spill, whatever. You can shoot the battery with a .357 and it'll still start your car(nothing leaks out, still has enough power to turn engine over). Some guys with big stereo/amp setups use the deep cycle yellow top, but it's not necessary. I've used them in my various cars for oh, about 7 years now.
