Repost from Infiniti online mechanic

When I turn on my ignition with out starting the engine my battery light is not on.. I removed the instrument cluster and replaced the bulb 2 times. I also performed the trouble shooting from the fsm which has you remove connector SL from the alternator and ground L. The results of this test tell me to replace the bulb. Should I go to the istrument cluster next and check diodes and resistors or is this an alternator problem?

As always thanks in advance

If i were you, i would go see if the alternator is puting out enough voltage, if it is, i wouldn't worry about it too much.
