How much power is a na capable of?nsrZ32 wrote:A good place to start power wise on an NA is intake, headers, and exhaust. Don't neglect upgrading the suspension and brakes though
From what ive been reading, around 220-230 hp? and thats serious upgrades/weight reductions. Someone correct me if im wrong.vgio30de wrote: How much power is a na capable of?
wow...... dude it has 225ish from the factory. unless all those serious upgrades are oem parts.95FairLadyZX wrote:

yeah dude but 230 @ the wheels on a heavily modified vg is not even close to right. my old 240 was gettin round 315 to the wheels and it wasnt extremely modified.chimmychongaz wrote:He's talking about whp.
The NAs came with 220+ bhp. Factor the hp lost through belts and the drivetrain, and you're looking at a number significantly less. Then there's the HP the car may not have anymore due to the age and condition of the motor.
The best I've seen to the wheels with every possible bolt on possible is like 218~ HP.vgio30de wrote: yeah dude but 230 @ the wheels on a heavily modified vg is not even close to right. my old 240 was gettin round 315 to the wheels and it wasnt extremely modified.
230 WHP on an NA... sounds about 10-20 over what you are going to get. What is the right answer here then? 380 or so BHP in a 240sx is not extremely modded?vgio30de wrote: yeah dude but 230 @ the wheels on a heavily modified vg is not even close to right. my old 240 was gettin round 315 to the wheels and it wasnt extremely modified.
sorry chief, it's not possible to get that kind of power out of a KA without forced inductionvgio30de wrote: yeah dude but 230 @ the wheels on a heavily modified vg is not even close to right. my old 240 was gettin round 315 to the wheels and it wasnt extremely modified.
Did you dyno it for the 200/210? Sounds a little high. Here is an example of a stock NA Z: http://www.dragtimes.com/1995-....html. I think the most I have seen is about 220 WHP with about everything done short of a shot of NOS or a complete over-bore. The NA doesn't really respond well to bolt ons. If I had an NA I would look into a sick suspension setup to whip around corners rather than drop $3k into the car to run the 1/4 mile .3 seconds faster. Or just enjoy it as is and save up for a TT!painjunkie wrote:i have a 90 na, auto, and the only mod it's got right now is no cats, and free flowing muffs. i think it's about a 2 or 2.5 inch pipe run straight back to the muffs, and mines pushing about 200 or 210 right now, and you're saying if i put all of those bolt ons on it it's only going to raise my hp by 10-20 hp? whats the freakin point in wasting money on the bolt-ons if thats all you can get, i feel you should be able to get alot more, but i'm still learning the z's right now

if you would like to prove your father correct just put the car on a dyno and post up the results, otherwise I suggest you let it gopainjunkie wrote:he's known about the weight issue with the z's. and you're right that is why we have dyno's, but it's my dad, not just some guy, and my dad has proven to be right about things like this time and time again, as i said before it may have internal stuff done to it that i don't know about, i haven't torn my motor apart yet and looked. Not planning on doin that until i have to
JWT was aware of all my modifications when they reflashed, but as evildky said, it really doesn't make a ton of difference until you start changing injector size, air inlet, fuel pressure. The JWT flash for an I/E NA, an I/H/E NA and an I/H/E/P NA are the same.OUKNO wrote:
I do see how someone with plenty of years messing with cars can have a idea of HP. Nailing the HP by a guess impossible. So Honad if you are saying 205 with those mods I hope you have the ECU chipped to match the bolt ons,... & how much do you think lighter flywheel, better clutch, and 1 piece drive shaft wold add to the HP
epic 1st post and thread resurrection.eastcougar21 wrote:Ive had my 92 N/A for about 2 years and after heavy mods im only putting out 274 to the wheelsits not great but its still an awesome little car to drive but for the amount of work ive put into it its deffinetly well worth getting a TT instead. I mean considering i have the block bored, wiesco pistons eagle rods jwt heads, race cams, 1mm oversized valves, 370cc injectors, a full megan racing exhaust, k&n intake, jwt ecu and 245 tires in the rear (04 350z rims) im still getting beat out by alot of cars on the street....... buy a TT and s*** on cars errywerrrrr
