I have a 2003 Infiniti G35 an I am about to hit 60k miles. I just got the car so I don't know what was previously done to the car. So let us just assume that nothing was done as far as maintenance. What are the basic tune-ups required and the prices for this car? (water pump, etc, etc.)

Also -- how long does a timing chain last for?

Also, Also -- What are the Pros and Cons of having an Infiniti G35. I haven't learned yet.

Thanks,J

your friendly Infiniti service writer can supply you with a printed dealer performed service history, which each car has.

Think of replacing all fluids and filters first!

Reading the previous posts in the G35 forum should give you an answer to your other questions. Par particular attention to posts by Q45tech.

When Maxnix says "all fluds and filters", he means every single one of the many different fluids in the car. If it's wet, do a complete flush. That means transmission, cooling system, differential, brake system, and steering system, and of course, change engine oil, preferably with a good synehtic oil of the correct viscosity. Same goes for filters. All of them, not just oil filter. Have 4 wheel alignment done, check brake pads/rotors, clean radiator/evap coils from rear, check ALL belts and hoses (not just radiator hoses), suspension components. New (OEM) spark plugs may not be a bad idea either, and have the complete fuel system serviced too. You should also have the car checked out by a known good Infiniti repair facility like T3 in Atlanta, or another good shop that specializes in Infinitis, or even a good dealership if there are no reputable shops that are familiar with Infiniti near you, BEFORE you buy it. That way you'll know for sure if it's worth buying and spending money bringing it up to snuff.

This will cost you, but will save you a lot more than you spend, and will ensure that you get maximum life from the vehicle, assuming you keep uo with ALL maintenance. This should be done on any used car, but only after confirming that there are no known issues with it before purchasing it. Read up on Q45 Techs excellent posts about "deferred maintenance", and how it can change low routine maintenance costs into big major repair costs.

The G35 is an excellent car. If you bring it up to snuff with suggested items, and take care of it, it should last you a LONG time, and will give you many hours and thousands of miles of driving pleasure. Unless there is a known problem with items, I wouldn't worry about such things as water pumps, etc. Normal wear items like batteries, brakes, shocks, etc are to be expected in any car. The G35 is no exception.

Good luck.
