I am wondering how much it would cost to make a bone stock 240sx with a Sr20DET (red top) engine would cost. I know that the prices range dependin gon the engine, parts missing, and coast of car. But I need a car :help if you guys could tell me how much you spent that would be great. Most likey "doner car" woudl be an 89-91 240sx fastback or coupe.

Look at the parts listed for the swap, thats why our prices are different. I'm assuming your car doesn't have an exhaust, they are assuming it does. My final pricing will probably be sub 4000 as well.

If you just wanted a SR20 and/or install, my prices are cheaper for both.

With a totally stock sr20det into a 240sx shouldn't be that much. Mine was in the $3000 range...maybe a couple hundred more. And mine is totally stock.

Nope...that was the whole complete swap. My car was just another $1200...so you can say it was about in the $4500 range.

My engines are as complete or more complete than front clips, minus the frame. The only thing a front clip has that a quality engine setup doesn't is a worthless frame adding to the cost. : )

If I knew how to use smiley's, I'd put upt he WERD smiley. : )

Werd.

As far as SMIC location, I haven't decided if I"ll ship it attached or detached, depends on if I feel it will be alright in the shipping, which I think it will be. You'll have to notch your fender to make it work, but other than that, it fits, a lot of people relocate their battery for space.

Hey Dauntless you seem to know alot about the sr. My questions is where would u find normal replacement parts like starter, alternator, and other parts like that and how much would they cost? Thanks!!:help

A starter from a USDM SR20DE should work.

An alternator from anything should work.

Belts, hoses, and fluids you'd just have to match sizes. Any other common parts you'd like to know about?

I didn't think the starter worked, I'm 90% sure the alternator dosn't cross over. Also the headgasket is different, but most of the other wear items such as plugs, belts, and oil filters are rather generic.

My buddy owns a shop, so he gave himself 'cost' on everything and it cost him a little over $5,000 to do a Redtop SR swap with a decient FMIC, clutch, flywheel, and downpipe. That's direct swap cost's, no labor for the install (since we helped him for free).

Hey Daunt,

If we don't need a complete motor (I want to use a Haltech), will you still charge $2200?

And, also, which model Haltech did you quote me the other day?

E6K, E6H, E6M...???

And, what do you think about the AEM or Apex'i system?

The Power FC doesn't look like it has as many options, but I don't know anything about the AEM.

I don't know ANYTHING about the AEM. : )

I would suggest the Haltech over the Power FC, especially with the cash you'll spend.

I quoted you for a E6K.

And yeah, unfortunately the price is still 2200, but you are welcome to sell the ECU and harness yourself on eBay or something after you get it. : ) However I won't be selling incomplete engines.

It can be done in a day if its just a straight swap, we have no unforseen problems, and we plan for you to come. Expect at least 2 days. If you want a lot of additional work just plan on a weekend.

I know of one in Texas, but its probably a bit far from ya. : ) I also know of some here in Iowa, but they're probably a bit far as well, it also depends on how much cash you want to spend for it, its easier to find one if you have a higher budget. : )
