base headlights to hid?

hey i just recently bought a 350z. it suprised to when i saw that the cars headlights looked like something was eating it from the inside. its pretty bad starting to get foggy. anyways i want to replace them with new headlights. can i buy the base headlights and then buy a hid kit for it or do i really have to buy the more expensive hid headlight and buy the hid kit?

You can do it both ways. I had the base headlights on my Z and put an 8000k HID kit but just recently I bought a pair of 06 Heads and those come with the ballasts but do require some splicing when it comes to putting them on the 03-05 models. But if you're already looking for buying some new headlights you should get the HID equiped versions of the 03-05 Heads but make sure they come with the ballasts and everything you need for proper wire up.
