LOL She'll big time LOL

Just remember what she said when she saw me doing it. LOL

Worth it tho.

We had some warmer weather and melted mostly. Still white everything here and only calls for 1/2 inch a day. But my friend lives 20 minutes away and they got nothing on the ground. I like white xmas. Snow everywhere and nice light snowfall at Xmas eve.

I could not wait to see them again. I was so happy to see them back.

Hey Sean do you have any snow on the ground there? It is weird how close we are and some days last few winters I was going in and we had loads of snow and you guys got nothing.I mean that's the last thing you guys need beside the damn traffic to make it even slower.

Funny it happens every year. You'd think people remember how to drive in winter since we have 5-6 months sometimes like that. Nope seen few people in the ditch last few weeks.

Cold? Se what Alberta had? -48. LOL now that is cold. I remember last year I was at work and the car is outside every night for few weeks I got in the car and the steering colum was cracking when it was going down to the set place. LOL The widshield was frozen inside and outside too. That was only -27-30.

Yeah you can see them on the road sometimes. LOL I think there are more in smaller cities. Last year I saw an old lady going over a little island at the parking lot. She did not see that. LOL It was night. She lost exhaust, bumper front and rear and all the brake lines oil pans etc etc. She was doing 30-35. Me and my son were scratching our head. My son finally asked her nicely if she still thinks it is ok to drive for her. She say absolutely. She was around 75-80 with pretty bad vision.

Aren't people retested when they hit a certain age??

My gerl and I saw a lady in the parking lot (old of course) pull in to a spot nice and slow, then jam the gas, up the curb, over the grass and into a tree. Brand new Solera...she was mortified but ok otherwise. She said she meant to hit the brake?? How the hell does that happen??

hahaha

They only test the eyes and only when you going for renew your lisence. They doing it day time and glasses on if you need them.

The brake thing. My wifes co worker went in the lounch room last winter with her big arse SUV. She did the same hit the gas instead the brake. I guess it is common. LOL She was a fresh Canadian first year not a full lisence. G1 or 2 not sure.

I should ask her if she still have the picture. She had it on her camera. She has a new camera but maybe she saved it. Looked really fwcked. Part of the parking lot is just few feet away from the lunch room. Steel frame and huge glass windows. Glad nobody was in the lunch room.

Sorry for the hijack.

We end up usually with something else once the question answered.

I blame it on Sean. He should know better. He is a Moderator. LOL

Wait till he shows up to kick my rear end. Hope he won't do that in person. LOL

Hahahaha

Wait till he chimes in. LOL

I know funny how the guy did it for her. I loved the one where the guy ended up in the funtain/ pool or what ever that was. If I could remember what rthe title was. Some just seems unreal but obviously some people just don't have the common sense.I checked out my wifes phone. Can't find the picture. Too bad. It was awesome how her coworker ended up half way in the lunchroom.

This was I believe at the YMCA in Toronto. I remeber reading about it in the news this year.

She took off but they got her plate#. So the cops buzzed at her door later on.

While I had the sedan I felt the need to beat on it a bit! While doing so, I noticed that the acceleration in this thing felt so much greater than in my coupe! I am shocked and I can't for the life of me figure out why.
wow! so i'm not crazy!!!

i agree with you %1,000,000!!! while my M was in the shop back to back for 2 weeks, i got to drive bot an 08 G35 and 09G37.

not only did the G35 seem faster than the G37, but when i had the G35, i was racing a buddy of mine with a G37 coupe and i was slowly pulling away from him!

i was literally expecting to get beat up by the coupe and inside i was like "this car is just a stripped down G35 loaner car pulling on a fully loaded G37 coupe"

im totally subsribed to this thread as i want to know more about why this difference exists!

(by the way, my fun with the G35 loaner car also consisted of me pulling on an 03 M3 from 70 to 140mph; got the pull on an 06 6.0 GTO from 0-100; and last but not least, a bone stock 03 350z which got to admire the back end of the trunk slipping farther and farther away)

i really didnt want to give the car back!

I think simply just lighter, geared different and ECU maybe tuned differently. Also maybe the exhaust have something to do with it. Since they are not even close. With your situation the base vs fully loaded makes the weight differences even bigger. Also not sure what the weight differences between the 17 and 18 wheels.

The loaners are usually driven harder and ECU adopt to it.

G35 sedan is lighter by 100lbs vs 09 G37 sedan and lighter by 180 lbs vs g37 coupe. Not exactly sure about the #'s. Also as I mentioned all the goodies comes with the fully loaded adds more weights to the car. So it is quite possible there are more than 200-230 lbs the difference. G37 sedan should be faster than the g35 sedan. I think some experience comes from the shifting. G37 had an update on shifting. That definitely changes the whole situation.

But all these cars are within .2 seconds to -60. Is that a big different?

The 2007-2008 G35 Journey Sedan with the 5 spd automatic is the fastest thing Infiniti has ever made.

The 2011 M56 should be faster as long as it isn't to porky.

I recently had a G37 Journey sedan as a loaner for 3 days and missed my G35 the entire time.

It comes down to curb weight. The 07-08 G35 J Sedans are right at 3500lbs and make 306 hp.

The G37 adds 22 hp but that 22 hp is way high up in the powerband and the G37's are heavier.

I'm wondering if it's just that I'm not used to this clutch or something. It's so different than my RSX. I may be unintentionally riding it and not allowing clutch to engage before punching the gas. I'm really tall so it's hard to pull my foot back far enough. I'll have to try and do some tests, but kinda hard to do on the streets (I'm paranoid of tickets!)
Sounds like you're shifting too low. Max HP and torque is just beginning to kick in at 4-5K, I'd roll it past the 6+ mark (and then some) before shifting. I know it may sound like it's going to break something, but it won't. It'll FLY!

Right off the Infiniti website:

2009 G37 Coupe- 330 hp @ 7,000 rpm 270 lb-ft @ 5,200 rpm3,633 pounds (base)

2009 G37 Sedan-328 hp @ 7,000 rpm269 lb-ft @ 5,200 rpm3,581 pounds (base)

When pushed to the limit, my automatic 09 G37 sedan upshifts close to 7,000 rpm, so it must "think" that's where the power is. I can definately feel it kick into hyper mode in the 5,500-7,000 range.

FWIW, I test drove an '08 G35 auto Sedan and thought it felt faster than my auto 09. It was a 5-speed, and I was told it's best power band is at a lower RPM range, which is one we typically feel more comfortable driving in. Maybe that was why. I don't like hitting 7,000 RPM in daytime traffic.

Yeah, I've pretty much come to terms with the fact that I apparently drive like a grand'ma.

I started toying around and getting a little loose with it and I feel pretty damned excited with my choice of the Coupe-S. Giddy like a school girl even..

I've even now come to realize just how much gas this car can eat!! Holy balls.

And for the record, I am blaming this site for my sudden obsession with emotes!

Stupid question from the new guy here, but how can I know if my G37 has the AT shift update? My car was built 09/09, is it a TSB?

There are no stupid questions! Heck, I'm new here too.

Yes, it's ITB09-032b. I downloaded a copy off the infinityhelp.com website, you need to sign up there and you're limited to two downloads a day unless you contribute. I can send you a PDF copy if you give me your email address. I would post a link here to it but don't have a place anywhere to store it online.

It's titled "7 SPEED A/T HARSH 4>3 DOWNSHIFT ON DECELERATION" and dated Sept 28th, 2009, so yours may have the condition as well.

You should be able to tell by driving it. Here's how I knew -

Get up to about 30-40 on a relatively flat road. Take your foot off the gas and coast toward a stop. Around 20-23 MPH, you will feel a more abrupt downshift, it's from 4-3. The RPM will actually go from about 1000 to 2000 when the downshift occurs.

Now that I have the reprogramming, all I notice is a very slight bump in RPM when rolling to a stop, as seen on the tach - it's only about a 100 RPM jump. Before, I could very much feel it and see it on the tach. As I said in another thread, my wife thought I was hitting the brakes too hard or something. She said she liked her Volvo S60 better!

Awesom info! Thanks much!! went to the sit and downloaded and printed a copy, will take to the dealership next week. I also have the issue with the door molding coming off as well. So those of you that have the reprogramming done, huge difference?? Sorry to hijack the original thread.

I believe the G37 uses the same 6MT from the G35 6MT. I've had my 05 G35 6MT for roughly 5 months and still haven't perfected shifting, particularly from 1 > 2. As many others have stated the gearbox seems temperamental which I have agreed with, but I'm beginning to think that its really all or nothing with this car. If you try and go slow....well you will really go slow and it feels underpowered, but if you drive it like u stole it, you will get a great thrill. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an in between with going slow and quick...I try to go slightly faster than slow and the car just jumps forward but if I attempt to go slower, on the next run then the transition to second makes the care feel slow. I think this is the nature of this manual unless you become seasoned with the car. Hopefully I will get there soon as I feel 5 months is way too long for it not to respond how I think it should on a consistent basis.

The thing about going quick in this car (it will go but you cant be scared to floor it in first gear)...people may think you are racing and the roar seems a bit much when you simply want to make a quick move from dead stop. The best advice to compensate for this is to learn to start in 2nd gear which in my experience can only smoothly be done on relatively level ground. This method wont allow you to jump off the line and you will very likely get beat by soccer moms and pedestrians for the first few yards but on the flip side you will smoothly catch and overpower most vehicles you encounter.

Don't be scared to floor it and in actuality you don't need WOT unless you are racing because the car will indeed jump off the line by just barely touching the throttle.

With all this said, I am still convinced that the 10% ethanol in gas has a lot to do with the temperamental behavior I and others experience. I use to be exclusively BP but recently switched to shell during a road trip. Unbeknown at that time, that shell didn't use ethanol in the their 93 octane and on the trip back I noticed higher mileage before the low fuel light came on. I also noticed everything seemed smoother during stop and go driving. I didn't seem to get the jerk in first gear when barely pressing the throttle.

Stop being scared and drive the damn thing....
