Longtime creeper, first time posting here. I picked up a 300zx that I've made into a play toy, going to be a sleeper/racer that Im putting together piece by piece. Ive been cruising craigslist and I picked up some base 17" 350z rims that I like and work better than 18"s for performance.

I've been all over the wheel fitment thread trying to figure out what people run with these wheels (Fr17x7.5 30mm offset, Rr 17x8 33mm offset) I have 225/50/17s on there now and they rub slightly in the front. I do know I would like to stagger them a little bit for a slightly bigger rear wheel.

I havent really seen anything on google indicating what sizes people have been running with this setup. I have several choices that Ive been looking at but seeing how I'm from the Jeep world im unsure about what would really work best.

Setups

1. 225/45/17 front with 245/45/17 rear

2. 235/40/17 front with 255/45/17 rear

3. 225/45/17 front with 255/45/17 rear

Any advice would be great, this is the start of a long and unique build.

Welcome to NICO! Post some pics of your Z!

Is the Z NA or TT?

Where exactly is it rubbing?

This is a NA, that I have plans for a V8 swap. It is the 5 speed. By sleeper I mean crappy paint job so you dont expect the full coilovers, full roll cage, and 6L Chevy hiding under the hood. Oh just because I haven't seen it said so far, the stock 300zx center caps will fit in the z33 rims.

Driver side is just barely rubbing on the splash guard on the front. It appears someone before me cut the shield and due to this it is grabbing the open end of the shield and pulling it back and forth as the wheel is turned. I should be able to zip tie it back for the time being just to clear. The bigger issue is that the tires are completely bald on the inside(somebody was running some stupid camber), so they will have to be replaced sooner rather than later.

Here is some basic pictures of the project.

The stock tire on the rear is 245.

You should be able to fit a 255, that is not that much bigger. I would suggest

225/45-17 front
255/40-17 rear

These are pretty much the same size diameter, so you will not have the stink bug look going on.

I have 225/40-18 front and 255/35-18 rear. Same size diameter tire as stock.. Hope this helps.
