Okay, i was going to do a crazy turbo build on my '89 but decided against it. I've got the top end off right now and am doing a head and timing chain. My question is about engine management.
What do i need?
I want to eliminate everything i don't absolutely need from my setup. I've already got rid of the intake runner butterfly restrictor crap, i'm doing away with the AIV, and i'm thinking about wiring the intake air temp sensor to a dash mounted varistor to use for mixture control (i live in the mts and want manual mixture for on the fly altitude correction)
What else can i remove to simplify things? Is there any sites that can help me eliminate the rocket science mess of sensors, wires, and valves in my ride? Is it possible to run with 3 sensors and bypass the rest in the ECU? I'm thinking of keeping the airflow, o2, and one other sensor and eliminating a good portion of the ECCS crap. I want a simple barebones engine setup and i want to do it on a budget. I'm not looking at upping power output right now, if i can get something close to stock out of it i'll be happy.
I'm also removing the AC, going electric fan, and putting the battery in the trunk to clean up the engine bay. I'll get the head shaved, valve grind, and maybe even go as far as port matching.
Thanks in advance for any help
