A couple of days ago I balanced the OEM (Winter) wheels AKA Pie Pans I have for my car. The service manual says that 10 grams is the limit for one side (Dynamic) and no more than 20 grams (Static) Center of wheel inside. Well I was in a rush and I forgot to check the static balance. But the other two wheels balanced out at 5 and 10 grams on the outer side, 0 for the inner side. The other two wanted 15 and 20 grams on the outside, 0 on the inside.

The machine I used was a Hunter and it was calibrated a day ago.

I have not checked the run out of the wheels but I am guessing the two that are out of spec (According to the service manual) will not be with in spec on the run out tests.

These wheels are very clean so I may sell the "bad" ones to less discriminating customers.

Just now putting on winter tires? It doesn't seem like winter at all here this year.. Crazy to have gone this far into Feb without any snow or ICE.

I actually scrapped the Michilin X-Ice tires because they were very worn down.

Can anyone reccomend a good all season tire? Sumitomo's any good? Because I hear nothing but bad things from my friends.

We only got seven inches of snow! I pray for 2 feet or more this year but it won't come. Global warming I guess.

A few tips:

Have the tire tech clean the bead (On the wheel) and put bead sealer so the tire sticks to the wheels better. Doing this I think reduces the slipping between the wheel and tire. Which will throw off the balance.

Never use wheels made for a lighter car because they will bend, unless you don't have speed bumps and pot holes.

You could try the firestone Precision sport which is available in the 15 inch size you need. Here is a link to the tirerack test report.https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/ch ... p?ttid=129
