Youre kidding right. I believe thats the point of their story. The didnt go to Ivy League schools cause their parents were rich and influential. They went because they wanted the best education their student loans could fund.Cold_Zero wrote:My two major gripes about the Speech where:1. Obama purposely left out that he went to NYU and Harvard and Michelle Obama went to Princeton and Harvard. They beat on McCain for being out of touch, rich and someone that the common person can't relate to. But to be honest, I probably can relate better to John McCain schooling and start a lot better than the Obamas.

Did last night not point out proudly that he was the president of the Harvard Law Review? Some will obviously not come around and, arguably, vote in their best interest (and likely cite some ambiguous "pride").
I live in the epicenter of liberal guilt surrounded by $1.5m homes with his and her Prii. Vote for Obama as they may, they are certainly not the ones who have the most to gain here, or the targets of last night's speech. There will be no catastrophic redistribution of wealth. That's ridiculous. I took last night's speech to be exactly in the tone of "you can too".

Had you paid closer attention to the background of both Barack and Michelle they both worked their butts off to get into those schoolsCold_Zero wrote:I dont think John McCain has called Obama Elitist. And the point is on McCain's background. I dont see him running from it or even apologizing for it.
What I observed last night is that Obama conveniently left out his Ivy League Pedigree. That is all. If I went to both schools, I would be proud of it and not hide it.bud
I realize from the swaps and toxic waste dumps of norther NJ you wouldn't understand the NFL. Maybe Brett can bring some respect back the to the Jets. My priorities are in the right place and just fine. You wanna rage on the Redskins, you better bring a bat because I have a very hard head and will not relent on the Redskins. Only thing that can make me miss my team is church, but I got Sirius to help out so I don't have to be home to check up on the game.telcoman wrote:Bud
You've got your priorities all wrong.
If you have the brains and the drive to finish college, why should the fact that your parents cant afford to send you there stop you? GA has a program called the HOPE scholarships. Basically it says any student with a B (3.0) average can go to any GA college or university tuition free. How is that a bad thing? I would love to see a national program like this.Cold_Zero wrote:I understand Obama's message on Post Secondary Eduction, I have read his policy statement on his website. It is that the government is going to give you a hand out to go to school.
Because it doesn't stop people. There are plenty of Financial Student Aid options for all students. No matter what they or their parents make in income. What a loaded question.hannibal wrote:If you have the brains and the drive to finish college, why should the fact that your parents cant afford to send you there stop you?
Interesting.srellim234 wrote:I see nothing that indicates that John McCain can even relate to the average person on the street. That he's ever actually been exposed to or actually worked with anyone there.
That is pure genious! Patent that phrase, it is political gold!Soravia wrote:Hypocrisy we can expect.
