?????

All mixed race children have to come to terms. Barry grew up in a white community with white grandparents. When he left home, he had to explore his Black identity, since he had no Black figures in his childhood to learn from.

Am I misunderstanding your confusion?

But to be honest, I probably can relate better to John McCain schooling and start a lot better than the Obamas.
Youre kidding right. I believe thats the point of their story. The didnt go to Ivy League schools cause their parents were rich and influential. They went because they wanted the best education their student loans could fund.

EDIT: Just made it to the end of the thread. I think Chris handled this point well. He's not hiding his education. How many times did he say the US is the only place where he and his wife could achieve what they have?

I have a bone to pick with Obama's race. We keep saying that he;s the first Black man to have a major party nomination. He is in fact a biracial man. Yes. we classify these people as Black, but Barry or Barack (lotsa children have nicknames) was raised by white grandparents. I think his biracial heritage gives him a unique perspective. Even White America can identify with some facets of this 'Black' man...

I can agree that 'folks' has become his buzz word. I guess it makes him seem more 'local'...

Did last night not point out proudly that he was the president of the Harvard Law Review? Some will obviously not come around and, arguably, vote in their best interest (and likely cite some ambiguous "pride").

I live in the epicenter of liberal guilt surrounded by $1.5m homes with his and her Prii. Vote for Obama as they may, they are certainly not the ones who have the most to gain here, or the targets of last night's speech. There will be no catastrophic redistribution of wealth. That's ridiculous. I took last night's speech to be exactly in the tone of "you can too".

You've got your priorities all wrong.
Cold_Zero wrote:I dont think John McCain has called Obama Elitist. And the point is on McCain's background. I dont see him running from it or even apologizing for it.

What I observed last night is that Obama conveniently left out his Ivy League Pedigree. That is all. If I went to both schools, I would be proud of it and not hide it.bud
Had you paid closer attention to the background of both Barack and Michelle they both worked their butts off to get into those schools

They were attempting to send a message to all parents to push their kids to get a quality education and they too can rise to POTUS if you try.

Living out in the boonies where you do you obviously just don't get it

Is it that hard to admit Obama is the correct choice in this election?

I realize from the swaps and toxic waste dumps of norther NJ you wouldn't understand the NFL. Maybe Brett can bring some respect back the to the Jets. My priorities are in the right place and just fine. You wanna rage on the Redskins, you better bring a bat because I have a very hard head and will not relent on the Redskins. Only thing that can make me miss my team is church, but I got Sirius to help out so I don't have to be home to check up on the game.

Going to Princeton and then obtaining your JD from Harvard or attending Columbia and Harvard is a pretty big achievement.

My point was simply that Obama left out the names of his Alma Maters and I suspect it was politically motivated.

I understand Obama's message on Post Secondary Eduction, I have read his policy statement on his website. It is that the government is going to give you a hand out to go to school.

Telcoman [/quote]Living 2 hours away (down I-65) from Chicago, I understand Obama, his Socialistic Marxist mentality and the fact that our state is much better for not having him as a Legislator. Trust me I am not a fan boy of Illinois, but I can understand how a feeble minded person from northern New Jersey can get hot and bothered from such a candidate.

If you have the brains and the drive to finish college, why should the fact that your parents cant afford to send you there stop you? GA has a program called the HOPE scholarships. Basically it says any student with a B (3.0) average can go to any GA college or university tuition free. How is that a bad thing? I would love to see a national program like this.

Because it doesn't stop people. There are plenty of Financial Student Aid options for all students. No matter what they or their parents make in income. What a loaded question.

Interesting.

You should pop into the Capitol Cafe (where I have lunch on occasion).

I can recall seeing him several times, sitting with other State employees, wolfing down a sandwich and sharing a laugh.
