As if we needed another reason to hate them? Now they're telling their customers what they can and can't spend THEIR OWN MONEY ON? How are these guys still in business?

the examiner wrote:I heard a rumor this morning that Bank of America is stopping purchases made with the cards on ammo and gun sales, is that correct?" said Freda, a 20 year customer of the Bank. "Correct mam," replied the phone rep.

This is the beginning of a shocking conversation recorded to Youtube.

Bank of America recently revealed their disdain for guns when they began refusing to do business with gun manufacturers and businesses that support the 2nd amendment. Just last December, Joe Sirochman, president of American Spirit Arms, made a Facebook post claiming Bank of America illegally withheld his company's funds because of the nature of its business.

Now the bank has gone even further and reportedly stopped all its customers from purchasing any firearms or ammo with their own debit cards. "It sounds to me like my financial institution is now going to start trying to tell me, as the consumer, what I can and can not purchase," said Freda.

She also pointed out that, "somebody can go out and buy a case of beer with a debit card from Bank of America and go out and get drunk and kill somebody on the road, but a hunter, who has been with Bank of America for 2 damn decades, is gonna be told they cant use their money to purchase what they want to purchase."

Bank of America has yet to make a public statement regarding the incident or its new policy towards gun owners.

There better be a huge class action law suit VS those fu*ks...

Are they serious!? I'd be SOO furious; close my account and put it in a credit union. Screw those guys.

I heard today that Walmart is doing something similar. They're not going to carry guns and ammo anymore.

No. Not at all. The WalMart here still sells rifles and shotguns. They've also got them still listed on their online catalog. Ammo has just been running out lately. It's hard to find. Hell, to get anything more than 100 rd at a time now, I'm gonna have to order online, because it's just never in stock. It's gone as soon as it hits the shelf.

There are, however, certain companies that have quit selling guns and ammo in cowardice, and they've lost my business permanently. d!ck's sporting goods is one, Cheaper than Dirt is another that reacted to the media in a way they shouldn't have. If you're going to give up your morals so easy, you don't deserve my business.

Just saw what you're referring to. They stopped ordering ammo until tomorrow's revealing of what the crackpots in washington have come up with in regards to our evil inanimate objects.

I didn't come to this country to have my rights neutered by bailed out financial institutions and twats in congres and the white house.

Bank of America is, without question, the most unethical financial institution in this country and I hope their managers and directors eat a d*ck.

That seems really dumb coming from a financial institution. But if it is true, I suspect there'd a bigger financial/legal reason behind a ban that would clearly anger so many of their customers. I wonder if the actual reason would be protection from gun violence victim lawsuits arising from the purchase of firearms. Although gun manufacturers and sellers currently enjoy immunity from lawsuits, financial institutions are not immune. All it might take is some wacko non-cardholder make a AR15 or major ammo purchase using his mom's debit card at a gun show and then go on a shooting spree. We all know lawyers follow the money, and a lot of business decisions in this country are driven by fear of lawsuits.

Thoughts?

Stupid. Because you could just go and get cash and then by the firearms/ammo with that. The cash receipt could then easily be traced to the purchase of the guns.

BOA sucks anyway, just dump them and get out.

I'm going to start building these before they're illegal, too. I think I'll market them as "The Anti-gun solution"

This is just a rumor, people have called Walmart's corporate, they are business as usual, just their ammo ordering system sucks and everyone buys it as soon as they get it in.

Though they have stopped selling AR type guns for now.

But If you purchase a weapon by cash, that takes BOA completely out of the weapon's actual transaction and therefore removes any possible liability on their part. Think about it, do you ever tell a bank what exactly you were going to purchase with an ATM withdrawl?

It would not shock me to see other banks do the same thing, given the hostile legal environment we live in and the strong passions this particular issue seems to generate on both sides.

Regardless, this is plain cowardice, and an appeal to nothing more than media claims. They deserve no business from me, and if any bank I use ever tries anything like this, I'll drop them with a quickness.

He's right. The debit card stop transactions are a hoax. However, they are discontinuing firearms manufacturer's lines of credit. McMillan has been told they can't stay with the bank, and Spirit Arms had their accounts frozen, though the bank maintains that it was due to high transaction volume.

They've been doing crap like this for years. They're not scared, cause in the back of their minds, they know the government is gonna bail them out again.
