Start deleting threads.Preferably all the ones posted by Honda hating losers. They make our site look bad, and they humiliate the people that start them by showing everyone how dumb that person truly is. I'm pretty sick of all the "i HaTe HoNdUh" threads here, and our board is starting to take alot of shiet for being anti-Honda. Some of you guys turn into utter a$$holes when you hear the word Honda, and you seem to think that your rusted out 89 Nissan is better, because its made by Nissan. Theres at least 3 Honda threads a day, and at least 100 morons replying to them in support. Lots of other boards read our boards, and we're starting to become known as a place full of a$$holes. The Ring was partly responsible for this as well.

My signature is staying up until these threads are cleaned. They use more bandwidth than my sig.

Hmm or maybe delete stupid *** posts like these, where morons try to provide they useful insight on things. And you provide much of the threads on honda hating, try to influence us "a$sholes" that hondas deserve upmost respect, sorry to dissapoint you, but I rather take a rusted out 89 nissan then a civic with cut springs, excessive tire wear and kept in horrible condition.

And if other people from other boards come here, they are surely welcome, no matter if they drive a yugo to a mclaren f1 or even do not drive, this board is a place for more then just techincal advice, and people visiting these boards must realize this is a NISSAN INFINITI club, we have our own opinions and that is something they have to deal with, if they do not like it oh well. You seem to like standing up for honda, nm I really hate repeating myself. But anyways, your sig takes up more bandwidth then the honda hating threads, your sig appears after EVERY post you make, the only way the honda threads consume bandwidth is if the user clicks on them and reads the whole thing, so stop tryin to be a Honda Hero, and making pointless threads and stealing the bandwidth.

Oh BTW, wanna know a good bandwith solution???!?!? Donate!!!!Just send money instead of coming up with alternate ways, stop being cheap :)

Anybody else thing this thread should be locked and deleted so no users click and read and consume bandwidth on such a meaningless post?

Whooooo Boy. As a mod, I'm inclined to be closer to the middle ground than both of youz guys.

Ninjak, you've more than earned the respect of everyone here on the board, so I've got your back here. As a former Honda owner, i don't quite understand the "hating", since I'm not a big 240 fan either.

TrueSlide, ease up on the name calling. While I agree with your point about this being a N/I board where all others are welcome, I'll not stand for personal attacks on other well-established members.

I'm outie - you guys hammer this out.

Aren't threads that are older than like 30 days automatically deleted to help free up bandwidth?

btw.... /me likes Hondas.

No they are not deleted, if you want to search for something older then 30 days you have to change it in your search options or even on your viewing options for the board.

We live them online for reference. And if nobody views them then it doesn't add to our bandwidth usage anyway. Bandwidth is only information that is sent out. So unless a thousand members are surfing through ancient posts, it's not affecting bandwidth. And some old threads are excellent reference guides.

Yeah, though I swear some info that was posted after the forum switch got deleted. I know I've done searches for threads I had read within the previous week but couldn't find them at all. I know I'm not alone.

We tried to copy the most useful threads from the old forums to the new ones. Or we created articles on the new main page from old forums. Try using the search function on the main page to look up an article about what you are looking for rather than a thread in the forums. That is where we ended up puting all the old useful threads from the old forums.

That's what I mean. There were posts made *after* the switch, and they didn't show up when I did searches for text I knew that I typed or that others had typed.

Haha, hell yeah... too bad my Boomspeed account went down, so no more sig pic anyways :( BTW, I ordered those TM coilovers from AutoZeal Mike, send me an e-mail for more info.

I think there has to be better ways to save bandwidth other than banning sig pics. For God's sake, delete the ALtima Boards and shiet like that.... No one posts their, and there's no reason for them to be here! Those other cars have their own, more resourceful, clubs to go to. Sure they're welcome, but us having a Skyline board is really useless.

Thx for the support Hitman!

You don't seem to understand what causes bandwidth problems. It's not having forums that nobody goes to or old threads that nobody reads. It's *NEW* threads that people post in and use lots of graphics in.

We don't want to tell anybody that they have to trim down their signatures. But the problem all comes down to money. This site is NOT free. There isn't a magical internet genie that just gives NICO webspace and bandwidth. The more traffic the site gets, the more it costs us to keep it up. We always want more traffic, but at the same time, we would appreciate in others helping out to cover the expenses.

Hopefully soon we will have a donations page set up and it will be very easy to donate money (any amount you wish) to the site to help pay the bills. If you would like to contribute right now though, please click "contact webmaster" on the main page and ask how you can send money to Nico. Nancy will tell you exactly how to do it. AFAIK, we can accept all major credit cards or payment through Paypal.

If we really wanted to get rid of bandwidth problems, we could just ban all members who complained about it. But we don't wanna do that.

yes, you guys are confusing bandwith with HD space. HD space is dirt cheap these days and goes for about forever.what we need is some sponsorship and donations!

I really support the idea of a flat fee for the ability to post. Visitors could come in, roam around, get info for free. But the privilege of posting should require a membership, whatever the cost. I'd say $20 annually would be fair.

Let's stay away from the "donation" idea - If someone has the means to do so above and beyond their $20, great.

I'm working on trying to get Nancy to get something set up that is user friendly. Ofcourse, it has to be OK'd by SD, but I think I can talk him into it. That is, if he ever calls me back!

ARGH!Holy shiz, I have been saying this ever since I first joined 240sx.org and started talking to Shawn the owner. I have never recieved any reply as to where I could send any money. Ask Daunttless, blink0r, or anyone else, and they'll tell you I've been waiting forever to send my money.I've also been trying to hunt down the person in charge of 240sx.org stickers and such, to buy some, but no luck there either. There are alot of people willing to pay for this site, but they don't know how to.

I'm sure if we had an organized membership system, badnmwidth troubles would disappear.

I'm working on it!! I'm working on it!!Like I said, as soon as I can get a hold of Nancy and SD, I want to get this donation page set up. Nancy told me she already set up a Paypal account for Nico, but just has not set up information on how to send to it. But we *are* working on it. It's one of my highest priorities right now.

I still think a minimum membership fee should be mandatory (at least to post here). Might keep the riff-raff to a minimum too.

Donations should be allowable for those who want to sponsor or just help out - Maybe a "Thanks To" page to list anyone who gives generously.

Yeah, a "thanks to" page was already decided on. That will be part of it.

I don't like the idea of a mandatory membership fee to post because I think it will push away too many new people. Sure our current posters will probably stay, but I doubt we will get many more new posters.

Ummm....I was wondering on this about where to send them? and all....I remember seeing something at the top of the site that said "donations", when I clicked on it and scrolled to the bottom it listed an address and said or paypal. I was wondering if that is where you do send it or is the address differ or somethign?? hehe

But I seen that and wanted to ask about that since I read something brought up about where to send and all.

Pictures of cars in signatures is the most stupid waste of bandwidth. No matter how cool your car is, once we have seen it, that's all we need. The picture does not change with each post. Hence the pictures of owner's rides section.

Honorable Moron Mention has to be the vertical signatures, i.e.:

B210 CoupeClean ashtraysBrake dust shieldsVortex induction thingyOversized Shaved Cooper Tires (3/32nds tread depth)Painted Neon BumpersFrontal Lobotomy at 14etc.etc.....etc.

Usually these posters write something like:

i wuz 2kewl n scewl 2day, soz i wintz 2 the boolen aly perkken lut 2 seen mi budts wit der 4 hundred 50! hearspuwer b210s. i seen the slipp thut sed dey dun a 8 second kortqar miil.

They just participate to confirm their decision to not matriculate, nor to ever learn English. Why master any language, if one has nothing to communicate?

Their future's so dark, they need white canes.

How about selling advertising space.... NO not the pop-up BS!!! (that makes dial-up users, like myself, not want to visit) But having a banner on top of each page would certainly provide some useful revenue. The more users and taffic we get, the higher you can charge for such advertising.

The problem with charging an annual fee, is that we will lose a LOT of people. This could be a good thing, but that entirely depends on what the intentions and goals of the powers-that-be are.

Maine, I agree with the fee charging, that's why I'm against it and all for the "donation" idea.

That way you don't *have* to give money, but you can if you want to. Especially when we keep exceeding our bandwidth.

There is a banner ad at the top of every page. If you notice there are a few things advertised on it right now. But maybe we can do something bigger or more than one of them, or something.

As a side note, I just got off the phone with SD. He had to run but said he will try calling me back in a little bit and we are going to discuss the board (amongst other things), and hopefully we will begin to make Nico even better known than it currently is, and fix problems that we are having right now. Well, I gotta run, but I'll keep everyone updated.

My suggestion for now:

Monarch, set up the homepage thing as a pay only option. Allow users to pay some money, and get their own page within the site. That way, people can link their homepage through the signatures, and people actually get something for their donation. Yes, I know, they already get site info, but this would be better.
