Rode in one once... always wanted one since. I see a couple TT z's in my area for sale around 10-15k. They would need the motor rebuilt/replaced as they are well over 100K miles. I don't know if you have to replace/rebuild the turbos or whatnot. Just looking for a ballpark figure.. If you were to pickup a used one and pay to have a new/rebuilt motor installed... about how much are you looking at??

If you're spending $10K plus, I wouldn't expect a rebuild to be in the near future. $10-15K should by a turnkey car in really nice shape. Alot of these cars will go into 150K plus if they're well taken care of

If the motor is already blown, you can cut that number by 70-90%, depending on the condition of the rest of the car. I just bought a 90 TT with a known bad motor for $1300.

The rebuild cost will depend on the components that need to be purchased. If the components you have are all in good shape, and you do the motor pull, disassembly and reassembly yourself, you are looking at $500-700. If the heads/valves are bad, the crank is bad, the pistons are bad, the cylinders need bored, it'd probably be more in the $2000+ range. If you want to add aftermarket performance parts, the the sky is the limit.

I have learned, wisely (and the hard way), to leave such matters to the professionals. So we're talking out of pocket for labor blah blah blah

OEM spec rebuild by a reputable shop that knows these cars would be $4k+ But as schwar said, for 10k that car better be ready to take you down the road. A minty factory TT with perfect body and interior and a blown engine will run you around $3k
